Fortify: A great oil for combination and sensitive skin.  It contains astragalus (huang qi), which helps to stabilize the skin surface, and is used in Chinese medicine as a “qi tonic”. Astragalus is a very nourishing and energizing herb, which helps to brighten dull or compromised skin. It also peony (bai shao), and schisandra (wu wei zi) to lubricate and nourish the skin barrier. 

Clarify: Lotus: lotus leaf is used in Chinese medicine to clear inflammation, so it has a “cold” thermal property. It is used to clear and move stagnation that results in black heads, clogged pores, and redness of the skin. Other herbs such as ophiopogon (mai men dong) and schisandra (wu wei zi), help to moisten and protect the skin barrier. Lotus also has an affinity with the heart, so this is one great for emotional stress that leads to inflammation and blemishes on the skin.

Regenerate: This one is our number one go to for dry skin, especially in autumn. It is full of Chinese herbs that are very nourishing and lubricating to our skins barrier. Goji berry is a prominent blood and yin tonic in Chinese medicine that is also full of antioxidants. Mulberry leaf (sang ye) as well as Solomon’s seal (yu zhu), are also especially moistening and therefore help to protect the skin barrier during periods of dryness. 

Nourish: This is our go-to for more mature skin as it helps to soften and diminish fine lines. It contains Angelica sinesis (dang gui), which is an herb used frequently in Chinese medicine to nourish the blood, and moisten and heal the skin. It is also very commonly referred to as “female ginseng” as it extremely nourishing for times after menstruation, childbirth, or even during menopause. Bakuchiol is also among the top ingredients which has been found to act as a natural retinol. Bakuchiol is found primarily in the seeds and leaves of Psoralea corylifolia, which is an herb used in Chinese medicine called Bu Gu Zhi. It has been used as an “anti-aging” herb for thousands of years, commonly used for reproductive issues, prostate issues, low back pain, and digestive issues.
